LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir said on Saturday that a system of reward and punishment is fully operative in Lahore Police, wherein those displaying good performance are being encouraged while process of strict departmental action against corrupt and inefficient personnel is continuing.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Discipline and Inspection Shariq Kamal Siddique on Saturday dismissed a police constable, who had incriminated his opponents in a fake case, which he lodged after injuring an addict.

The police constable namely Khalid Fareed, deputed in Samanabad Police Station, had picked an addict Hassan Murad from somewhere and later shot him injured in order to suppress his antagonists in property case.

SSP Shariq Kamal told this reporter that the criminal constable, hailing from Bahawalpur, lodged an FIR against his several rivals on the part of the addict. According to the FIR, several persons (constable’s rivals) had kidnapped a citizen Hassan from Lahore for ransom and had also shot him injured. The police constable also misguided the heirs to the injured in this regard.

“But, after injuring him the constable held hostage Hassan for three month and during this span of time, he arrested all his opponents from Bahawalpur and put them behind the bars,” Shariq added. He, however, said after receiving court orders regarding reinvestigation of the case he learned the constable was misguiding the victim and suppressing his rivals in connection with his personal property dispute in his native village.

SSP D&I further said the constable had been dismissed from service and a case on charges of attempt murder, kidnapping, deceiving and etc has been lodged against him. He also said such few black sheep were deteriorating the image of the police department but the department has no place or soft corner for such criminal conspirators.
