Brutality adds to City violence

KARACHI – A man and his two-year-old daughter were killed in the current spell of sectarian killing. Eight others were also gunned down in separate violent incidents here on Monday.
A man and his daughter were killed while another daughter got injured within the remits of Gulberg police station. Victims including Asghar Illyas, 40, and his two-year-old daughter Zainab were gunned down while his wife Farzana and six-year-old daughter Dua were injured near Aisha Manzil, Federal B Area Block-5.
Police said that the victims were on their way to home after attending a wedding ceremony of his relative when some unidentified assailants intercepted their vehicle and opened fire. Resultantly Asghar and his daughter Zainab died on the spot while Farzana and Dua sustained bullet injuries. After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and treatment. Police said that the victim belong to Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat and was the trustee of the Masjid-e-Hussnain situated in Gulbahar area.
Following the incident, police high ups suspended SHO Gulberg Tariq Baig for negligence while the case of murder has yet to be registered till this report was filed. It is worth mentioning here that the victim’s brother was also killed in the same way near Yousuf Plaza area of Gulberg and rival sectarian group’s members were also apprehended over his brother’s target killing. The funeral prayer of father and his daughter offered at Nayab Mosque located in Liaquatabad. Scores of their relatives and party workers participated in the funeral. They were laid to rest in C-1 Area, Liaquatabad graveyard.
Another sectarian killing took place in 13-D Gulshan-e-Iqbal within the remits of Gulshan police station. Police said Ali Raza Naqvi 26, was working in a private bank. He was going on his motorbike with his friend Raeis when gunmen riding a motorbike intercepted him near railway track. They shot dead Naqvi with point blank range while left his friend alive.
In the remits of Pak Colony police station, some gunmen riding a motorbike sprayed bullets and killed a man in Soldier Bazaar police station.
Police said Murtaza Alvani was on his way to home when gunmen targeted him near Bara Board and managed to flee. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing while handed over the body to the family after autopsy.
A poultry truck driver was gunned down near Northern Bypass in Manghopir police precincts.
Police said that the victim identified as Arif, 21, resident of North Karachi, was going to poultry farm on truck when some unidentified assailants intercepted his vehicle and sprayed bullets. He died on the spot and culprits managed to flee from the scene. Police shifted the body to ASH for autopsy and later handed the body over to his heirs. Police suspected that the motive behind the incident was personal enmity.
A strangulated body of a man was found from bushes of Toori Bangash Colony within the remits of Iqbal Market police station.
Police said the identification of the victim’s identification has yet to be ascertained. Police said unidentified culprits kidnapped the victim from somewhere and later threw his body at the said place. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after completing medicolegal formalities at ASH.
A bullet-riddled body of a man was found from the bushes of Chanesar Goth within the jurisdiction of Mehmoodabad police station.
Police said that unidentified culprits kidnapped the victim from somewhere later they tortured and shot him multiple times before throwing his body at the said place. Police shifted the deceased to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem and later moved to morgue for identification.
A prayer leader of Deoband community namely Maulana Shaukat was succumbed to injuries during treatment at ASH. Police said that unidentified assailants targeted him in New Karachi Sect 5-E within the limits of Bilal Colony police station. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and taken to ASH for treatment. Police said that the victim was a prayer leader at mosque situated at Lasi Goth. Police suspected sectarian killing the motive behind the incident.
