LAHORE – A joint meeting of all political parties excluding PML-N was held at the Governor’s House on Monday, which unanimously resolved not to tolerate the undemocratic elements which were out to sabotage the elections process in the country.

The meeting was presided over by Punjab Governor, Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmood, which was mostly attended by the provincial heads of the political parties. However the second largest party, PML-N, did not turn up at the meeting despite invitation, after which it had also boycotted the dinner hosted by Governor in honour of the Punjab Assembly members a day earlier.

In the interest of continuity of the democratic process in the country, all political parties unanimously decided that they will not tolerate undemocratic elements within the state nor will allow them to sabotage the upcoming general election.

The meeting was attended by the President PPP Central Punjab Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, Secretary General PPP Punjab Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, President PML-Q Lahore Yousaf Ahad Malik, Leaders of Tehrik-e-Insaf Muhammad Zaki and Mazhar Sahi, Ahsan Wayin and Arif Azhar of Awami National Party, GM Malik Qadri, Sh Zaid Fayyaz, Manzoor Gillani and Mian Irfan Akram PML Humkhyaal, Syed Qalandar Shah, Ameer Jmaat-e-Islami Punjab Dr Waseem Akhtar, General Secretary Jmaat-e-Islami Nazir Ahmed Janjua, Abdul Qadir Shaheen, Mufti Saeed Ahmed, Syed Saeed Ahmed Shah Gujrati, Chairman Islamic Democratic Front, Syed Munir Hussain Gillani, General Secretary Islamic Democratic Front, Malik Muhammad Akrm Khokhar, PML (Malik Qasim Group) Saifullah Saif and others.

Speaking to the participants, Governor Punjab thanked all political leaders who accepted his invitation and gathered at what he said the stability of democratic process, solidarity of the country as well as prosperity of the people of Pakistan.

He called upon all political parties to join hands to foil nefarious designs of the forces which were trying to destabilise the democratic process and hatching conspiracy against the upcoming general election. He further said that our armed forces, judiciary, all democratic institutions, political parties, media and above all, people of Pakistan, were fully agreed to hold the election in time and without any interruption.
