Police team off to Dubai


KARACHI – A police team left here for Dubai on Monday to arrest the main accused of Shahzeb murder case who managed to flee Dubai to escape arrest. According to details, police party got the clue and left for Dubai where the main accused Shahrukh Jatoi was hiding.
Police teams headed by DIG Dost Ali Baloch and SSP Niaz Khuso with other officers left for Dubai with the consultation of the Dubai government.  SSP Niaz Khuso while talking to the mediamen revealed that police are in touch with the Interpol police and requested for restriction of accused’s movement in Dubai. In reply he said we 90 per cent believed that the accused was residing in Dubai therefore, we have requested Interpol for cooperation till his arrest. 
The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took the notice of Shahzeb Khan’s murder who was gunned down in Karachi on December 25. Following the court directives, police managed to arrest the co-accused of the case Siraj Talpur along with other assailants who had killed Shahzeb Khan.
Police conducted several raids across Sindh and even Punjab to arrest Sikandar Jatoi, father of Shahrukh Jatoi, who had also been declared absconder after the court issued non-bailable warrants against him for providing shelter and support to the accused.
Police placed the name of Jatoi into the Exit Control List (ECL) and cancelled his passport after the accused left the country. Police took up the case seriously when the apex court had directed the Additional IG Sindh to attend court proceedings without uniform in case of failure to arrest Shahzeb’s killers.
The chief justice had taken suo moto notice of the brutal murder when hundreds of mobilised people including the deceased’s friends, civil society and political parties staged protest against the lethargic attitude of police which tied its lips because of the influential tribal lords. Sources privy to the matter revealed that Siraj Talpur a co-accused arrested on Saturday stated before the police that Ghulam Murtaza, a cook of the Jatoi family, harassed a girl on which the girl complaint to his brother Shahzeb who came out of his home and fought with Murtaza.
He further added that Murtaza reached home and informed Jatoi about the skirmish. Resultantly Jatoi took out the pistol of his father and shot Shahzeb after a little brawl.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), district Tharparkar will organise a public meeting at Mithi on January 14.
This was stated by PPP leader Senator Gul Muhammad Lot during a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at CM House here, said a statement on Monday.
The senator and the CM also reviewed the progress made on various developmental projects in the district Tharparkar.
Qaim said those projects which had been completed in the district Tharparkar, would be inaugurated soon, so as to provide facilities to the neglected and undeveloped areas.
