Punjab govt to widen ST net to district level

RAWALPINDI  - Punjab government has decided to widen tax net to district level and directives have been given to concerned officials in this regard.
According to details, provincial govt has chalked out a plan to ensure transparency in tax collection and broaden the tax net and infrastructure in this regard would be constituted soon. In accordance with the new plan, rent a car, dry cleaners, workshops, doctors and lawyers would also be brought into tax net.
Earlier, district authority Rawalpindi had also surveyed hotels, clubs, insurance and courier companies, restaurants, non-classified print media, advertisement and Custom agent departments to include them in tax services.

Sources said that the tax recovery department is being computerised to facilitate tax payers. The provincial government has prepared software which would be introduced at district level. 
Sources said that Punjab government is also considering suggestion of constituting new authority for recovery of tax. The mechanism would be launched in various districts soon.
