SHEIKHUPURA - Eight passengers including two women and a child were killed while 40 others received injuries when a rashly driven passenger bus overturned near Chitta Pul on Kala Khatai Road in the Narang Mandi Police precinct while the outlawed outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) was gunned down separately here on Monday.
According to information reaching here, a Lahore-bound bus, on board by 60 passengers, was on the way from Narowal. When it reached near Chitta Pul on Kala Khatai Road, the driver identified as Shera lost control of the bus while negotiating a sharp turn due to speeding. Resultantly the bus overturned, killing eight passengers on the spot while 40 others received multiple injuries and were rushed to nearby hospital. They injured were identified as Boota, Akram, Rasheed, Gulzar, Bilal, Idrees, Shahbaz, Naziran Bibi, Kausar Bibi, Rukhsana and others. The Narang Mandi Police launched investigation into the mishap.
Meanwhile, two armed motorcyclists gunned down Vice President of the banned outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) near near Kot Pindi Das in the remit of Factory Police, some 20-km away from here on Monday. According to the police, Sipah-e-Sahaba Vice President Muhammad Shakeel was on the way to Lahore when unidentified motorcyclists let off a volley of gunshots on him near Kot Pindi Das, killing him on the spot.
The police have registered a case.
