ISLAMABAD - M Hamza finished fourth in the British Open U-13 category, as he lost playoff match against Egyptian Kareem Badawi 1-3 in Birmingham, England on Sunday.
Hamza failed to recover from the knock, he received during the semifinals and was playing with bruise shoulder. Although he lost 1-3, yet he played superbly and showed lot of heart and commitment.
M Ammad bagged 7th place in the same category, after winning 7/8 position match against Jat Tse of Honk Kong 3-2. In the playoffs, Hamza was up against Kareem, who was looking so cool and composed, while Hamza played really well but lost the first game 11-13, lost the second with same 11-13 margin, before bouncing back to take the third 12-10. But that was all he could get from the match, as Kareem took the fourth game 13-11 to bag the place and Hamza had to settle for fourth place.
Earlier, M Ammad beat Jat Tse 3-2 in a marathon match. Ammad lost first game 6-11 and lost the second 10-12 and was down and out, but he bounced back in style and won the next three games to stun Jat. He won third game 11-9, fourth 11-1 and fifth 11-6 to register impressive victory. This was the best result for entire Pakistani delegation, as majority of players in other age categories failed to even grab top 10 positions.
