QILA DIDAR SINGH - A man along with his brother was arrested on the charge of allegedly killing his wife here the other day.
Bashir Ahmed, father of the deceased woman, told the Kot Ladha police that Khurram, resident of Nokhar village, had contracted love marriage with his daughter Tanvila of Patai village some years back. The marriage produced a daughter. He said that Khurram had informed him about death of his daughter on cell phone the other day. "When we reached the house, we witnessed bleeding from Tanvila's mouth and ears," he said, alleging that his daughter was murdered by her in-laws. The police shifted the body to Gujranwala District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. The police also arrested Khurram and his brother Sarfaraz for allegedly killing Tanvila. Further investigation is underway.
MAN THRASHED OVER TRIFLE
Policemen allegedly clubbed a rickshaw driver with plastic pipes over a trifle. Zaid, 15, told the media that he was on the way back home on his rickshaw the other night. Near Nawab Chowk, some cops patrolling in a police vehicle signalled to stop him. He said that he feared and did not stop. The policemen caught him and clubbed him with plastic pipes. They also threatened to kidnap him from his house if he tried to complain the police higher-ups. Nawaz, Nazir's father, sought justice from the Gujranwala city police officer.
