KASUR - Public transport buses are loaded beyond their capacity in Kasur district amidst conductors' desire to earn more money, compromising safety of the passengers.

During a survey, passengers told The Nation that the bus conductors ignore buses' capacity and allow more and more people to get onto the vehicles. They said that the reason behind getting more people onboard buses is the conductors' desire to earn big money. For the purpose, they load 100 passengers in a vehicle designed to carry 50 passengers only. They said that due to overloading , drivers sometimes lose control over steering which causes traffic accidents and result in loss of precious lives . They also flayed the administration for not implementing traffic laws.

They demanded the administration control overloading in public transport so that people could be saved from becoming victim of road accidents. They also urged Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif take notice of the practice.

COP SUSPENDED FOR CORRUPTION

Phoolnagar police SHO Idrees Chadhar was suspended for corruption and misuse of power here the other day.

According to official sources, the Anti-Corruption Establishment had launched investigation into reports concerning the police officer's involvement in corruption and occupation of lands of poor people with the alleged connivance of land mafia. The investigation proved the SHO guilty of the crime at which Kasur DPO Zulfiqar Ahmed suspended him. He also ordered departmental action against the cop.

Four die in different incidents

Four persons including a minor boy died in different incidents here the other day.

In Kamal Chishti, a six-year-old boy died after he was buried under the chunk of a small hill. The deceased identified as Israr, son of Falak Ali, was playing near a small muddy hill. In the meanwhile, a chunk of the hill fell on the minor. He was buried under the mud and died.

Near Railway Road, Kasur Bypass, a motorcyclist was killed after the motorbike he was travelling on was hit head-on by a tractor-trolley. The deceased was identified as Ata Muhammad, 28, resident of Kanganpur.

On Ferozepur Road, a motorcyclist died after he lost control over the bike he was driving and it collided with another motorbike coming from the opposite direction. The deceased was identified as Iqbal, 22, resident of Usman Wala. The other motorcyclist was identified as Maqsood. He sustained injuries in the accident.

On Pattoki Megha Road, a man was crushed to death by a tractor-trolley. He was travelling on a motorbike when he had had his shawl stuck in a wheel of the bike. Resultantly, he fell on the road and was run over by a tractor-trolley coming from the rear. Police are investigating.

PRICES SKYROCKETED

Broiler is being sold in Kasur at Rs280 per kg. It is now beyond the reach of the common man. The increase in prices has also affected the sale of the commodity, concerning chicken sellers greatly. People demanded the Punjab chief minister take notice of the situation.
