Air Chief Marshal can be regarded as the jewel in Pakistan Air Force (PAF). He became the first Commander in Chief of PAF at the age of thirty-five. He was a respected and a decorated flyman of PAF. Yesterday, he was laid to rest with state honours and became one of the five recipients to get the state funeral.
He was not only a dedicated and a veteran soldier, but he was also committed to democracy. He was against the involvement of the armed forces in politics. Therefore, he brought the ‘Asghar Khan Case’ to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The case brought to attention the involvement of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in the 90s elections.
“Saddened to learn of Air Chief Marshal Asghar Khan’s death early this morning. He transformed the PAF and was a man of steadfast principles and integrity.” – Imran Khan
