The district government has appointed Grade-17 officers as focal persons at all 13 Ramazan Bazaars to monitor rates of commodities and resolve problems being faced by citizens on spot, disclosed District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal. Addressing a meeting held here at his office to review arrangements for the Ramazan Bazaars on Monday, he added that the district officers were directed to visit Ramazan Bazaars in the morning and evening on daily basis and submit report with his office. He said that the district government had established 13 bazaars in different areas of the district where daily- use items and edibles were available at cheaper rates. “Now it is responsibility of citizens to visit Ramazan Bazaars and do shopping. They’ll feel a visible difference,” he added.  He declared that the holidays of officers and workers of district departments had been banned and they were given the task of making foolproof arrangements at the bazaars.

He directed the price magistrates to launch crackdown on profiteers and impose heavy fines on them besides sending them to jail. He issued order for installation of walkthrough gates at the entry of Ramadan Bazaars besides deployment of lady police.
