Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar has said that army operation in North Waziristan has turned millions of Pakistanis into migrants in their own country as American war is being fought on Pakistani soil.

Talking to journalists here on Monday, he added that American war spoiled one generation of our tribesmen and inconsistent policies of state institutions made tribesmen baggers. Citing statistics, he said that five big operations were launched in FATA since 2002 which displaced over 1.4 million people from their homes. He added that about three million people took refuge in refugee camps because of 2009 Swat operation while this operation also forced millions to quit their homes.

He refuted the claims of government regarding support being extended to the IDPs and said that the rulers concealed facts from the nation. He maintained that millions of mothers, sisters and daughters from North Waziristan were forced to sit under open sky.

He said that slavery of America and presence of NATO forces in Afghanistan was the root of all ills and evils. He suggested to the government to evolve an independent foreign policy and steer the country out of prevailing crisis.

He said that ban on entry of IDPs in other provinces was unconstitutional and it should be lifted forthwith. He declared that the JI stood with the affectees of operation at this difficult time. He demanded the government to conclude operation quickly, supply all facilities to the IDPs and ensure their return to their homes forthwith.
