Ramazan bazaars termed publicity stunt

The Ramazan bazaar scheme has allegedly been politicised here by the local political big guns with giant banners and flexes displayed pictures of ruling party leadership in and around all the eight bazaars aimed to gain cheaper popularity.
Sources said the officials of tehsil municipal administrations in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur were given special directions to display these banners and flexes carrying the pictures of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and local MNAs and MPAs. They obeyed these directions and displayed giant banners and flexes.
It was learnt that instead of displaying the importance and benefits of the Ramazan bazaars, the people’s representatives have got displayed the giant banners and flexes carrying their bug pictures. The visitors said that it was a political show-off by the local big guns.
Visitors including Khalid, Ramazan, Ikramul Haq, Rukhsana and Parveen said that displaying of such banners and flexes was leaving an impression that the local elected representatives were eager to get political popularity.
Some visitors said that the Punjab government should not gain political gains from these bazaars. The people said that it was an attempt to political victimisation of the people belonging to the other political parties as well.
Local officials of Sialkot district administration and local Tehsil Municipal Administrations were not ready to take the political displeasure of the representatives by removing the banners and flexes from the bazaars.
