Islamabad - Acting Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Arbab Sher Bahadar chaired a meeting at CDA headquarters to review the arrangements and measures taken by CDA for the monsoon season and steps taken during the rain spell on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by the members of CDA board and officers of the concerned formations of the authority. Member Environment, Syed Mustafain Kazmi apprised the officiating chairman CDA that flood relief cell is permanent feature of Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate of the Authority; however, during the monsoon season this flood relief cell is augmented by adding the staff from various formations of the authority. He apprised that this cell is working under the administrative control of the Director, Emergency & Disaster management (E&DM), Abdul Islam Shah, while directorates including maintenance, environment, planning, enforcement, municipal administration, health services, electrical and mechanical, MPO and other formations are working as coordinator to address the complaints in systematic manner.

He informed that CDA has rechecked and maintained 18 de-watering pumps. He apprised that Capital Hospital will remain functional to meet any emergency and provision of first aid.

Moreover, Environment wing has removed the fallen trees in different mullahs to maintain the smooth flow of water. He was apprised that CDA has received 50 complaints as result of the first rain which were addressed promptly.

To cope with any untoward incident or natural calamity, the officiating chairman CDA directed emergency and disaster management directorate to ensure the availability of vehicles and staff round the clock.

He also directed the city sewerage division to take measures for clearance of sewerage system and remove the hurdles to ensure smooth flow of rainwater.
