PESHAWAR - To discourage the children interest in toy guns, the district administration Peshawar has banned toy guns and its business in the city.

The decision has been taken upon after public complaints, as student sometime injure themselves with these toy guns causing rivalries for parents in their neighbours. During Eid days children spend thousand of rupees while buying various type of toy guns in which some are also fired with small explosives and some are fired with rubber bullet causing eye damage.

Keeping in view the situation during Eid ul Fitr district administration has imposed ban on toy guns in Peshawar however police in other districts are still awaiting orders from their respective deputy commissioners.

It is pertinent to mention that a civil society organization named Poha Foundation has also started special campaigns against toy guns and demanded of the government to make legislation to bane such type of toys, which boost violent behaviour among the children.

The shopkeepers have expressed concerns over the decision, as their huge stock will be wasted on this Eid-ul-Fitar, however despite the DC directives, some shopkeepers are still busy in the sale of toy guns.
