OSLO: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government is pursuing friendly policies to attract foreign direct investment. He was talking to Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas in Oslo. PM Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan is gateway to Central Asia.

He said Pakistan's policy trends have been consistent, with liberalization, deregulation, privatization and facilitation being its cornerstones. Heavy investment has been made in telecommunication sector of Pakistan, he added.

Fredrik Baksaas appreciated the reforms and initiatives taken by the government for a better economy.

Baksaas also briefed Nawaz on the history of Telenor, the company came to Pakistan in 2004. Advisor to PM, Mr. Sartaj Aziz and special assistant to PM, Mr. Tariq Fatemi were also present in the meeting.
