Stringent security for Youm-e-Ali reiterated

BAHAWALPUR

Foolproof security will be provided to processions and Majlis to be held in connection with Youm-e-Ali on 21st Ramazanul Mubarak. A total 14 processions will be taken out and 95 Majalis will be held across Bahawalpur division to observe the martyrdom day of fourth caliph of Islam Hazrat Ali (RA). Out of which 4 processions and 16 Majalis have been declared as sensitive.
Sharing details security plan for the day, Bahawalpur RPO Dr Ehsan Sadiq told The Nation that a total of 2,600 officers and Jawans of the Bahawalpur Police, to be assisted by 805 Police Razaqars and 600 personnel from special Police and Elite Force would maintain law and order in the division. All the routes of the processions and points of Majalis would be cleared by the Bomb Disposal Squad while 548 volunteers and 91 members of peace committees of different level are also being engaged while special cards will be issued for the identification of security personnel to be deployed along routes and at venues of Majalis.
Dr Sadiq said that the LEAs were on high Alert and troublemakers would be dealt with sternly. He informed that five points had been declared as sensitive in the division where special security arrangements had been made.
CCTV cameras will be installed for monitoring of the processions of A Category and walk through gates would be installed at the entrance of processions and Majalis. The RPO reiterated his pledge to ensure effective security in the face of serious challenges.
