LAHORE - Pakistan Poultry Association’s monitoring teams are constantly ensuring the availability of quality poultry products at subsidized rates in 331 Ramazan Bazaars of 36 districts of Punjab.

This was stated by the PPA Punjab Zone chairman, Dr Mustafa Kamal while talking to the journalists during his visit to Shadman Ramazan Sasta Bazaar. He was accompanied by Ramazan bazaars convener, Dr. Muneer Ahmed Sahi and PPA Secretary Maj (r) Javaid Bukhari. He said that besides provincial government agencies the PPA’s own 40 monitoring teams are continuously on visits to check the true implementation of PPA and Punjab government agreement, under which the Association is supplying stock of chicken and eggs to Ramazan Bazaars at subsidized rates. He said that 7 teams are examining the high standard of chicken in all Ramazan bazaars of Lahore while 33 teams are on the round of rest of Punjab cities to ensure implementation of subsidized rates by the vendors of poultry in makeshift markets of the provincial government.

Quoting the data of Punjab DG Industries, Dr Mustafa Kamal said that more than 156,283 kg chicken was sold so far at subsidized price in 331 Ramazan bazaars of the province. PPA NZ chairman said that with the advent of holey month of Ramazan, the profiteers try to hoard daily kitchen items in order to mint money. But the PPA has decided to join hands with the Punjab government to facilitate the public by providing poultry products at subsidized prices. The PPA is providing subsidy of Rs.15 a kg on chicken and Rs.5 on eggs throughout the province, as compared to the open market.
