Three persons including a woman were killed by heatstroke while a chicken trader was killed on resistance by robbers here the other day.

As per details, a chicken trader was killed on resistance by robbers near Chak 147/9L the other day.

According to details, chicken trader Rana Khadim Hussain, a resident of Chak 143/9L was on the way back to his village in his chicken-laden vehicle. As he reached near Chak 147/9L, two robbers, riding a motorcycle, intercepted him. The outlaws attempted to snatch cash and other valuables from him but he resisted. At which the bandits fired a volley of gunshots, killing him on the spot. On information, the Dera Rahim Police reached the scene and shifted the body to DHQ Hospital for autopsy and medico-legal formalities. The police have started investigation.

On the other hand, three persons including a woman reportedly died due to severe heat and prolonged electricity loadshedding. The Mepco has been conducting unscheduled power loadshedding - 12 hours in urban areas and 16 hours in rural areas, which has added to the miseries of heat-stricken people. The deceased were identified as 70-year-old Muhammad Ramzan, a resident of Chak 134, 60-year-old Afzal Bibi, a resident of Bhutto Nagar and 70-year-old Mukhtar Ahmed, a resident of Jehaz Ground area. According to hospital sources, the deceased suffered heatstroke due to severe heat. They were brought to DHQ Hospital where they breathed their last. There are reports of dozens of people have been admitted to hospital with different complications caused by severe heat which is intensified by the unscheduled prolonged loadshedding of electricity.
