Punjab dominate Inter-Provincial Swimming opening day

ISLAMABAD - Punjab team dominated in the opening day of the Pakistan Sports Board Inter-Provincial Youth (Under-17) Boys Swimming Tournament which commenced Saturday at Swimming Pools Complex, Islamabad. Punjab won three gold, two silver and one bronze medal with 35 points. NWFP clinched 1-Silver and 1-Bronze medals with 20 points. Whereas Islamabad won 1-bronze medal with 07 points. Four teams namely Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP and Islamabad Sports Boards are competing for top honours. Each team is consisting of 9-players and 2-officials. Capt.Shahbaz, assistant commissioner secretariat, Islamabad was the chief guest on the opening ceremony. On this occasion, Major Majid Waseem, Honorary Secretary, Pakistan Swimming Federation, Syed Khawar Shah, Managing Director, Punjab Sports Board, M. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjeera, Deputy Director General (Tech), Pakistan Sports Board and Syed Abrar Hussain Shah, Secretary, Islamabad Sports Board were also present on the occasion. Results: 200-M.Free Style: Shahbaz Khan (Punjab) 2:19.83, SMA Moid Mustafa (Punjab), M.Khizar (Islamabad). 100 M Breast Stroke: Shahbaz Khan (Punjab) 1:22.41, Hamid Raheem (NWFP), Mehboob Hussain (Punjab). 100 M Back Stroke: Syed M. A. Mustafa (Punjab) 1:14.97, Shahbaz Khan  (Punjab), Adil Khan (NWFP). 100-M Butter Fly, 50-M Back Stroke, 100-M Free Style and 50-M Breast Stroke will be contested today at 1600 hours.
