MS PIC denied extension

LAHORE - The Punjab chief minister has rejected a summery to award extension to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Medical Superintendent Dr Riaz Ahmad Chaudhry who has retired from his office around a month back. A reliably source said that the summery was moved to the chief minister by the Punjab health department for final approval with a request to award one or two years extension to PIC Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Riaz Ahmad Chaudhry. The case to award extension to the MS was moved to the chief minister at a time when the Punjab government has clear policy in this regard that retired government officers will not be given extension at any cost. Dr Riaz Chaudhry accelerated his efforts for extension when the Governors rule was promulgated in Punjab, the source said. Using his influence, Dr Riaz Chaudhry however, succeeded in convincing the health department to prepare his summery a couple of months before his retirement. The health department later moved the case to the authorities concerned. Work on the summery was in progress when PML-N again came into power. The health department later moved the summery to the chief minister for consideration. Meanwhile, Dr Riaz Chaudhry continued work in the hospital even after his retirement. The chief minister, however, rejected the summery of awarding extension to the MS on Saturday. It has been learnt reliably that some senior doctors have started their efforts for the said post after they learnt that Dr Riaz Chaudhry was not being given extension. MS Services Hospital Dr Javed and former EDO health Lahore and former project director of the Burn Unit Jinnah Hospital Dr Muhammad Ehsan are prominent amongst other senior doctors making efforts to clinch this important post. He said mans quest for meaning was a cry of despair, anger and frustration of the meek and the humble, the dispossessed, the disenfranchised, the wretched of this earth to seek justice, fairness and equality, but they believe that it is possible to assign value to human life by protecting the rights of all peoples just, fair and equal. He said Kashmir was still haunting us and from the advent of Mujahidin in Kashmir the fall out now is all around, be it Talibanist suicide bombers all over our country or their active Warriors of Islam causing the biggest exodus in human history, from troubled Swat. H said there was no denying that dialogue must be promoted besides struggling hard more till man is emancipated in all dimensions.
