11 gangs of dacoits busted

SIALKOT - The Sialkot police have busted as many as 11 well-organised gangs of dacoits and arrested their 41 members during a special campaign launched against outlaws in the district. Sialkot District Police Officer Bilal Sadiq Kamiyana disclosed this while talking to the media. The DPO said that the accused have confessed to commit as many as 48 incidents of dacoity, robbery, theft, kidnapping and murder -cum-dacoity. The police have also recovered stolen and looted goods worth Rs 5m, he said and added that the police also arrested 739 proclaimed offenders including 346 court absconders from Sialkot district during the last month. The DPO revealed that the Sialkot police launched a special drive against drug-pushers and recovered as many as 25 kg of fine quality charas, 2.5 kg fine quality heroin, 509 bottles of wine and unearthed two working distilleries, besides, recovering three illicit kalashankoves, 18 rifles, three guns, 129 pistols, seven revolvers, eight draggers and 500 bullets from the criminals during drive, the DPO concluded. Sialkot Additional SP Zahid Gondal, SP (Investigation) Nasir Muneef Qureshi, DSP Saddar Raja Sadaqat and District Peace Committee senior member Zafar Malik were also present. SMUGGLING BID FOILED: The Anti-Narcotics Force foiled a major attempt of smuggling a big quantity of narcotics to Sialkot from Peshawar and arrested alleged notorious drug trafficker Sadaqat. The ANF officials told the media that they recovered as many as 9 kg of fine quality charas worth of millions of rupees from the accused and sent him behind the bars. The ANF has registered a case against the accused and started investigation, in this regard. SCCI holds workshop: A one-day training workshop of Sialkot business community on 'Corporate Social Responsibility will be held at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thursday. According to SCCI General Secretary Tariq Malik, chief guest Colonel (r) Rana M Daniyal will give a detailed presentation on the importance of CSR for meeting the global trade challenges under the WTO Regime.
