On a TV talk show, the ill-informed Salman Butt discredited Shahid Afridi of his commendable performance at the recently conducted world cup 2011. He was of the view that since Pakistan qualified for the quarter finals by defeating the virtually minnows West-Indies, therefore it was not a big deal. But he overlooked the fact that Pakistan topped the group by defeating teams like Australia and Sri Lanka; thus being able to face the lowest ranked team of the second group, the West-Indies. Nobody was expecting that Pakistan would go that far in the World Cup. Credit goes to the boom boom Afridi, who managed to reunite the disoriented unit. He became the role model through his own individual brilliance. AMIR IKRAM, Lahore, June7.
