Haideris appointment may land in SC

ISLAMABAD - PML-N and allied parties in Senate have intensified consultations over the unlawful act of Chairman Senate Farooq Naek by notifying Mauland Ghafoor Haideri as the Leader of Opposition. Well-placed parliamentary sources informed The Nation on Tuesday that these parties led by the PML-N have weighed various options to challenge the decision of the Senate Chairman. The sources said that one of the options they have agreed upon was to move to the Supreme Court to remedy the situation. However, according to sources they have agreed to wait and watch the outcome of the understanding given by the Chairman Senate Tuesday to resolve the issue after in-house consultations during the session. The notification of Haideri had surprised many especially the group of 25 opposition senators belonging to the PML-N, PPP-Sherpao, JI, the two splinter groups of PML-Q, National Party and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party had submitted an application on May 14 to the Senate Chairman nominating PML-Ns Ishaq Dar as a candidate for the office of opposition leader.
