ISLAMABAD - The seriousness of the parliamentarians regarding budget was exposed on Tuesday when not a single member from the treasury as well opposition benches attended the meeting of Senates Standing Committee on Finance that resulted in the postponement of the meeting. Only Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Senator Ahmad Ali was present who did not have other option than to postpone the meeting due to the absence of 11 members of the Committee. The Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs meeting is scheduled to continue from June 7 to June 13 in order to consider and finalize the recommendations of the member on finance bill 2011-12. The Committee has to finalize its recommendations on the finance bill, which would be referred to the National Assembly. However not a single member of the four of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday did not like to attend to the crucial meeting to give their valuable suggestions on the budget and to discuss it, which was prepared by their own government. Similarly the Senator Ilyas Bilour belongs to the governments coalition partner Awami National Party (ANP) was also absent from the meeting.
