LAHORE - The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has asked the PML-N government to come up with a clear stance on issues of national importance.

“Regrettably, the foreign policy guidelines given by the government especially on the issues like drone attacks, Abbottabad Commission report and Pak-Iran gas pipeline agreement are vague”, said PPP’s Secretary General Sardar Latif Khan Khosa in a Press statement.

He said that PML-N stance on drone attacks which was the main election issue during the election campaign was not clear.

Similarly, he said, the PML-N was mysteriously silent on Pak-Iran gas pipeline project that held key to solution of the energy crisis in the country at the earliest.

He advised the government not to sacrifice the Iran Pakistan Gas Pipeline Project at the altar of the party politics, hoping that the Prime Minister would honour his earlier public commitment and would pursue the project with the same level of commitment as exhibited by the PPP-led previous government. Khosa said Mian Nawaz Sharif had promised before the elections he would implement the Abbotabad Commission Report.

“Now is the time to honour this commitment as he had assumed responsibilities as Chief Executive of the country”, he reminded the PML-N chief.

Latif Khosa said that he would complement Nawaz Sharif even if he published the Abbottabad Commission Report not to speak of implementing it. He said that the newly-elected Prime Minister was best poised to address the challenges because he enjoyed the considerable support in the Parliament and ,therefore, was not vulnerable to blackmailing. The PPP-led previous government, he said, had its limitations as it did not enjoy majority in the National Assembly.
