School bans homework, finishes at 5pm

NORWICH (Metro):
A school has banned giving students any homework. The Jane Austen Academy in Norwich will have longer school days instead, lasting until 5pm. The school for 11 to 18-year-olds is set to open in September 2014, and wants to give its 1,100 students more free time to spend with their families. Claire Heald, prospective principal of the free school, said: “Rather than setting homework that students could go home and struggle with, and where there may be limited access to computers, they will do that in the school day.”
