Police action saves love-marriage couple

Timely action of the police saved the life of another newly-wed love couple in village Mochiwala Tehsil Pindi Bhattian.
According to police source, Shah Begum, daughter of Lal Khan eloped with her cousin Ghulam Abbas, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, resident of Mochiwala and tied the knot in Faisalabad on May 31 against the consent of their parents. The couple also decided to settle to Faisalabad to avoid wrath of their families.
When Mushtaq Ahmad and others came to know about the marriage of Ghulam Abbas with Shah Begum against their wishes they proceeded to Faisalabad and requested the couple to go with them to village Mochiwala for reconciliation. When they brought the couple back to the village, Saifullah brother of the girl, Ansar and others coerced Ghulam Abbas to divorce his newly-wed wife Shah Begum but Ghulam Abbas flatly refused to accede to succumbed to their pressure. Thereupon the accused allegedly detained the couple at the residence of Ch Zulfiqar, an influential of the village. However, somebody tipped off Sukheke Police SHO Raiz Haidri about the detention of the couple, who rushed to the spot along with heavy police contingent and recovered the couple from the illegal confinement of the accused. The couple told the police that their parents wanted to kill them. The police have registered a case against Saifullah, Ansar, Ch Zulfiqar and others who managed to escape from the scene.
Meanwhile, Saba Maqsood of Iftikhar Colony Khiali Gujranwala who survived bullet wounds at the hands of her father and other relatives, two days ago, is progressing satisfactorily in the DHQ Hospital Hafizabad. She has been shifted from female ward to a private room where policemen including female cops have been deputed to provide her security. Her husband Qaiser, who remained disappeared for two days has also reached the DHQ Hospital to enquire after the health of her newly-wed wife. He feared that his in-laws would kill them and demanded protection from the government.
