FAISALABAD-First China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) cell has been created in R&D Department of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) to provide information about CPEC. Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reforms Professor Ahsan Iqbal formally inaugurated the cell during his visit to FCCI. The cell will also help the local businessmen have direct access to their strategic Chinese counterparts in the field of their own choice.

The minister termed CPEC as the ‘game changer’ for the region, and said that the business community should play its pro-active role to get maximum benefits through the US$ 46 billion project. He said that the small and medium entrepreneurs in particular and large business groups in general should start work on the project and identify the fields in which they could collaborate with their Chinese partners. He said that in the project the chambers of commerce and Industry’s role is very important. He said that these chambers can get reliable information and disseminate it to the potential members and thus play their positive role in match-making.He suggested that all chambers should establish such cells for the benefit of their members. He particularly appreciated the vision and approach of FCCI President Chaudhry Nawaz who has taken the initiative to set up CPEC cell in FCCI. He said that this will not only help FCCI members to collaborate with Chinese businessmen but also help them expand their role in international trade and business.
