ISLAMABAD - The government of Pakistan has appointed Justice Muhammad Bilal Khan, a judge from the Lahore High Court, as the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) and the outgoing Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Ministry of Law and Justice had sent a summary to President Asif Ali Zardari for the appointment of Justice Muhammad Bilal Khan as Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court. President Asif Ali Zardari on the recommendations of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani appointed Justice Muhammad Bilal as the new Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court. Similarly, President has also appointed the outgoing IHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Sources revealed that Justice Muhammad Bilal is likely to take oath today (Sunday). Justice Muhammad Bilal had been appointed as Additional Judge Lahore High Court on September 3, 2003. He was born on December 5, 1949 and will retire on December 4, 2011. It is pertinent to mention here that the incumbent Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan is going to retire on March 21. These two appointments are said significant in the current scenario when all popular political leaders of the country along with black coats are going to challenge the government from March 12 onwards.
