Nice try

After repeated denials of the reports that American drones were operating and bombing inside Pakistan with the permission of government, the Defence Minister has now come up with a novel, shall we say, admission; these drones only land in an airbase in Balochistan, says he. This implies that they just land, don't fly from there. Pray, what happens to these drones once they land there? Do they disappear in the thin air or are dismantled bolt by bolt and then transported from the airbase? It stands to reason that an airplane, which lands on a base, must as well fly from that base. Please, spare the people of Pakistan from further falsehoods. -DR ZAHEER ASGHAR KHAN, Lahore, via e-mail, February 22.
