ISLAMABAD (APP) Though policing is a very tough job yet at the same time it is a service to the mankind as well as the nation since it provides them safety and a sense of security. Being the Capital of the country, Islamabad is the centre of social, economic and political activities putting more responsibilities on the police department to ensure peace and security not only for the citizens but also for the visitors. Along with normal duties, the force has to also guarantee security for VVIPs, visiting dignitaries and diplomatic missions. Add to that street patrolling and manning a network of check posts in the capital, their task become even more uphill. Despite all these challenges, Capital police force under the supervision of its dynamic chief Syed Kaleem Imam is successful in accomplishing all these responsibilities in a dignified manner. A special strategy has been recently chalked out to further tighten the security of the metropolitan and police commandos have been given assignments to perform security and patrolling duties. With the policing experience of around 22 years, the Inspector General of Police Syed Kaleem is making utmost endeavours to make this city 'more secure. Seven vehicles have been provided to police Commandos for patrolling in the various sectors including G-9/4, G-5, F-7, G-8, F-7/1, Blue area and Faizabad. These policemen patrol in these areas to keep vigilance against suspects and avert any untoward incidents. Likewise, lady commandos have been also deployed around various schools and public places while additional vehicles have been provided to other commandos for patrolling in sectors G-7, G-6, F-6, F-8/1-2-3-4 and Aabpara market. Quick Response Unit has been also constituted to immediately respond in case of any emergency and ensure assistance to the citizens. Two vehicles have been also provided to every police station of Islamabad for patrolling purpose. Making a rational decision, Syed Kaleem Imam has ordered police squads escorting the IGP, DIGs and SSPs to patrol in the city after dropping the officers to their respective offices or homes. When contacted, IGP Syed Kaleem Imam said that he is trying for improvement in present policing system and would make every officer responsible, discharging his duties to the best of his abilities and with a commitment to serve the citizens.
