KARACHI - The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) Karachi region convened an emergent meeting to condemning illegal occupation on the playground of APWA Government Girls College Karimabad by land-mafia with the help of the police. The meeting was presided over by President Prof Athar Hussain Mirza. Prof Muzaffar Ali Rizvi, Prof Aftikhar Muhammad Aazmi and Prof Dr Muhammad Arshad attended the meeting. Adjacent to the play ground, other than APWA College, there is a government Secondary school and students from this school and those who get especial education both have been using the ground for recreation and sports for the last 50 years. Head master of the school informed SPLA members that due to the construction of the wall school children could not entered the school and the police supporting the land grabbers. He also informed that the land grabbers were only using the name of APWA to pressurize the college administration. When SPLA contacted Mrs Kirmani, vice president of APWA she categorically denied and said that APWA is not part of this land grabbing act. SPLA has demanded the Sindh Education Minister to intervene and protect the playground as he protected the sports ground of DJ Science College on the directives of President of Pakistan. The office-bearers of SPLA demanded immediate demolition of this illegally constructed wall at the main gate of APWA Government Girls College Karimabad.
