ISLAMABAD - The Zong Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS)  Amateur Golf Cup will tee-off here at Margalla Green Golf Club from March 9 to 12.
Admiral Shah Sohail Masood, who is Patron of Pakistan Navy Golf (North Region) announced in a press briefing on Wednesday. He said  that Navy has a proud track record of promoting sports at national level and also holds an eminent heritage in the field of amateur and professional golf.
Akbar said that the event will be played in amateur, senior, junior and ladies categories and around 200 players are expected to appear in the event.
In regard to ladies category he said that lady golfers with a handicap of 30 and below are eligible to compete and their matches would be played over 18 holes on March 10. Seniors' matches would be played over 36 holes on March 10-11. Seniors over 55 years and with a handicap of 14 and below are eligible to take part in the match while junior's matches would be played over 18 holes on March 9. Juniors with handicap 24 and below are eligible. Main match would be played amongst amateurs over 54 holes during the three days event (18 holes each day). Amateurs with handicap 12 and below will participate in the match.
Zong is the major sponsor of this tournament, whereas, Bahria Foundation, Bahria Town, Allied Bank, Faysal Bank and Bahria University are co-sponsors.
Attractive prizes would be offered to the participants of all the categories, the championship trophy would be given to best amateur in net category.
The form of play would be the stroke play and the championship would follow the golf rules approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and in accordance with Local Rules framed by the championship committee.
