ISLAMABAD - The federal government on Wednesday accepted resignation of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) chairman board of directors of Syed Ali Raza with immediate effect. Ali Ahmed Zaib Senior Manager of media section of National Bank of Pakistan has confirmed The Nation that government has accepted his resignation.

According to reports, Syed Ali Raza was the longest serving President of NBP as he remained on this post from July 2000 to January 2011. Later, he served as Chairman, NBP Board of Directors.

According to the media reports, Syed Ali Raza wanted more powers to run the bank in a professional manner. His decision to resign came after raising concern over the issue in board meetings.
