LAHORE  – PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday demanded fresh parliamentary elections, saying the ruling PPP government at the centre had lost its mandate to govern.

Nawaz Sharif said a new mandate has become imperative to meet the challenges facing the country. “Hike in prices has broken the back of the people. Unemployment has reached its peak but the rulers claim that they enjoy backing of the public. It is very sad that those who snatched the last loaf of bread from the mouth of poor are not feeling any shame,” he said.

Only fresh polls can steer the country out of disappointment and ambiguity, said Nawaz Sharif, while talking to the media at airport here before his departure for London. He underlined that the PPP-led government had lost every explanation to be in power.

Slamming the government for the all-round failure, he claimed the PPP is reluctant to face the people as they have nothing to show to the people. He underlined that the nation would reject PPP.
