OKARA - Dozens of citizens were deprived of millions of rupees and valuables in four robbery incidents here.
In the first incident, robbers looted a passengers’ van and deprived them of hundreds of thousands of rupees besides valuables including mobile phones.
Ahmad Yaar, a resident of village Dolowal, along with his friends was going back home from the animal market by a passengers’ van. The armed men intercepted it and snatched about Rs750,000 and valuables at gunpoint.
Likewise, dacoits snatched two motorcycles cash and mobile from citizens. Near village 4/4.L, robbers intercepted Tariq Javeed and snatched his bike (1032/OKL) while he was on his way to village. At the same time, one Bilal’s bike (8280/OKD) was also snatched.
Mohammad Imran Afzal, a resident of Company Baagh Gogera, along with his wife was proceeding towards Faisal Colony from his relatives’ house by a car (4840/FDW). Near a school, 3 armed men held them at gunpoint and snatched gold ornaments, mobiles and a cash of Rs1,80,000.
Similarly, dacoits barged into a house in Pakistani Pul Dhakhli Awan Kalan, Hujra Shah Muqeem and locked the family members in a room. They fled away with gold ornaments worth Rs1 million and weapon.
Mother, baby die during birth: The health officials got a murder case registered against a quack and a midwife after the death of a mother and her baby during delivery at a clinic near Maugada Chawk here.
However, the police have arrested the quack and the midwife. At the clinic, Shazia Maqbool, a resident of 36/4.L, was brought for delivery. Quack Haji Zafar Ali who claimed to be a Surgeon along with Riaz Bibi tried to hand the case without calling for any medical officer. During operation, both the mother and the baby could survive.
On a tip-off, EDO (Health) Dr Ashraf Javed, DO Dr Shahid Farooq and Drug Inspector Rana Abdus Sattar reached the site and sealed the clinic. Meantime, the quack and the midwife managed to escape but later were arrested.
