Supreme Court Thursday decided to trigger contempt of court proceedings against former Federal Law Minister Babar Awan, to be announced on March 20. The Supreme Court announced its reserved verdict on the show-cause notice issued to the PPP leader, Babar Awan for his contemptuous address to a press conference against the court’s December 1, 2011 order in memo case. The two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Ather Saeed, which had reserved its’ judgment on March 1 on the contempt of court case against Awan, announced its verdict. The court said the press conference by Babar Awan dated December 1 contains contemptuous matter; hence, the contempt proceedings will be taken up against him and contempt charge will be framed against him on March 20.
