AHMEDPUR EAST -Former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Muhammad Usman Abbasi will announce his decision to jump on the PTI bandwagon during PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s visit to South Punjab on 20th.

Accompanied by his party leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi, the PTI chief will arrive in the residence of the former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker at Dera Nawab Sahib on March 19.  Usman Abbasi was first elected as member of the Punjab Assembly in 1985 and he joined Pakistan People’s Party in 1988 but as a result of his defeat in 1988 General Elections, he parted his ways with the PPP.

In 1997, he emerged as winner on PA seat from AhmedpurEast. He was made deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly by then CM Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo. Usman Abbasi served as Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly for two months. In 2001 Local Governments Elections, he was one of three leaders who formed Bahawalpur Ittehad against Nawab Abbasi who won the slot of District Nazim of Bahawalpur but Usman Abbasi was arrested by National Accountability Bureau during election campaign for his alleged involvement in cooperative scandal.
