NANKANA SAHIB - World Kidney Day was marked at the DHQ’s under-construction kidney dialysis block on Wednesday.

A seminar was also organised to impart information on kidney diseases, steps and measures to avoid them. Among others the seminar was attended by Noor Foundation, UK, Chairman Muhammad Shafique Neshbandi, Guhir Welfare Foundation chief Muhammad Hussain Guhir, NGO worker Prof Tahir Yaqoob and former district nazim Pir Mumtaz Shah.

Later, a delegation of both the NGOs met DCO Hassan Iqbal at his office and appreciated the Punjab government’s efforts against kidney diseases at the district level.

It may be mentioned here that the new kidney dialysis block is being constructed at a cost of Rs15 million. It will have 12 dialysis machines.

Free kidney dialysis was started at the DHQ from September 2006. About 15,200 dialysis have already been carried out at the DHQ.
