SIALKOT – About 25,000 applications for passport have been lying pending with the Passport Office Sialkot for the last four months, thereby perturbing the applicants.
Passport Office In-charge Ghulam Hussain said that the passports were not being issued from Islamabad. He said that the people who had submitted their applications with urgent fees before January 2013 had not yet got their passports. Likewise, those submitted their applications with normal fees before November 22, 2012 had also not received their passports, he added.
He said that the regional passport office at Narowal had not yet become functional despite the passage of several years due to which the people belonging to Narowal district had to come to Sialkot for getting passport. Former prime minister Gilani had announced the opening of a regional passport office at Narowal.
However, the applicants said that they repeatedly visited the Sialkot regional passport office for getting their passports but they still remain unable to get their passports.
