ISLAMABAD – The employees of the Directorate General of Special Education and its allied Special Education Centres/Institutions in Islamabad working for the noble cause of education, training and rehabilitation of special persons (disabled persons) staged a protest rally at Zero Point Chowk against the discrimination in salary packages amongst the federal government employees.

Resultantly, the traffic was badly jammed. The government has recently announced 20 percent special allowance only for the employees of Ministries/ Divisions, due to which there is great restlessness amongst the employees of the said Directorate.

The government of Punjab had allowed 100 percent special allowance to the employees of special education department. After that most of the federal government employees have been allowed 100 percent allowances with different names like President and PM Secretariat allowance, Health Allowance, judicial allowance etc. whereas the federal government has been depriving the Directorate from this facility and its Institutions for a long period of time.

The employees said that this Directorate is also providing services in health sector i.e. rehabilitation and medical facilities being provided to the disabled community. Therefore, non-provision of health allowances has also created a great restlessness amongst these employees. Furthermore, they have been deprived of the 20% allowance recently announced.

They have decided to carry out the protest until the government brings equality in the salary packages.
