Mentally retarded youth commits suicide

RAWALPINDI – A 16-year-old young boy, who was mentally distorted, committed suicide at Gulistan Colony by hanging himself with a rope tiding to the grill of the roof, informed police here on Thursday.
The local police and Rescue 1122 shifted the dead body to District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital for postmortem. The deceased identified as Yawar Abbas, resident of Gujrat, staying with his grandmother and aunt at Millad Chowk, Lane 3, Gulistan Colony, said Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station (PS) Civil Line Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah.
According to him, the young boy ended his life by hanging himself with the grill of his grandmother’s house. He added that during initial investigation, it was suggested that the boy was mentally distorted and had been residing with his grandmother and aunt in Gulistan Colony. He said that police brought the dead body for postmortem.

Meanwhile, a father and his son sustained burnt injuries when a cylinder blasted with a big bang at Dhoke Chaudhrian, the limits of PS Civil Line.
On getting information, Rescue 1122 rushed to the scene and shifted the victims to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Burn Unit for cure. The names of the victims were Ijaz, 38, and his son Waqar, 3. According to doctors, the condition of Ijaz was critical whereas the baby child was stable.
On the other hand, fire erupted in tripple-story medical store namely “Shahi Dawa Khana” located in Bhabra Bazaar. However, Rescue 1122 firefighters were called who extinguished the fire after hectic efforts. No causality or injury reported.
A rumor was in the air that the violent traders subjected Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed to torture when he visited the place to express his solidarity with the victim owners of the medical store. However, AML President Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, while talking to The Nation, rebuffed the news saying no body beaten him.
