SIALKOT - The PML-N Punjab leadership may not nominate its four female members of the Punjab Assembly again to the PA seats reserved for women in the general elections due to their poor performance during the current tenure.
The MPAs are: Naseem Akhtar Khawaja, Mrs Shamsa Gohar, Mehmooda Sarwar Cheema and Deeba Mirza. They were nominated as MPA by the PML-N on special seats of Punjab Assembly after the 2008 general elections.
The BA degrees of two of these MPAs Naseem Akhtar Khawaja and Deeba Mirza were fake and fraud cases had also been registered against them. According to the district leadership of PML-M Sialkot, the performance of these MPAs remained very poor, dissatisfactory and disappointing during their five-year tenure. They could not deliver properly due to their weak contacts with the people.
According to Shujaat Ali Pasha, the general secretary of PML-N Sialkot district, the MPAs had also established their residences in provincial capital Lahore after being elected as MPA on special seats from Sialkot. They also remained reluctant to visit Sialkot regularly as per the party directions for solving the problems of the local people especially women in Sialkot region, he added.
Local MPA Rana Muhammad Iqbal Harnah said that now the PML-N had also decided to field his daughter-in-law Sumera Bibi, the widow of late MPA Rana Tariq Mehmood Harnah, Aqsa Bibi, wife of Shujaat Ali Pasha, general secretary PML-N Sialkot district, and former union council naib nazim Shahida Butt as PML-N candidates for their elections to the reserved seats for women.
