PESHAWAR - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Central Senior Vice President and Coordinator for FATA Ameer Muqam on Thursday unveiled his party’s manifesto for tribal areas and said that his party would consult tribesmen whether they want to have a separate province or get their area merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

An elected powerful FATA Legislative Council as well as Agency Council would be established so that resolve tribesmen problems at their door step in a democratic way.

Moreover, most of the powers being exercised by Political Agents would be transferred to the elected representatives of tribesmen.

He said this while addressing PML-N’ FATA convocation held here at Hayatabad Peshawar.

He said that FATA Legislative Council’s elections would be held directly, while judicial and executive powers would be separated, it has been proposed in the N-League manifesto for FATA, which has formally been approved by PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif, he informed.

For the first time, the PML-N has organized its FATA chapter convention, which was attended by thousands of party workers and office bearers from South Waziristan Agency to Bajaur Agency.

Ameer Muqam said that PML-N wanted extension of jurisdiction of Supreme Court of Pakistan and Peshawar High Court to FATA.

Apart from, N-League, would announce a huge FATA rehabilitation and restoration package, which would also include compensation to victims families and establishment of schools, colleges, universities and hospitals.

He said that PML-N would provide all basic facilities to the people of tribal areas so that to end the sense of deprivation among tribal areas.

Prominent among those who were also present on the occasion were PML-N KPK General Secretary Rehmat Salam Khattak, ex-MNA Shahabudin, Malak Spin Gul, Ghalib Khan, Faqir Mohammad, Sohail Khan and others.

Any decision about FATA, he said, would be taken after the consultation with tribesmen. The PML-N would change fate of tribesmen, if it came into power in coming elections. “We will ensure peace in FATA, which is need of the day” he remarked. He said that tribesmen have rendered a lot of sacrifices for Pakistan. 

He asked tribesmen to reject those people who were planning to use huge money in coming elections, saying if they wanted to change their fate, then, they must vote for N-League.

A number of resolutions were passed during the convocation through which it was demanded of the government to send Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from FATA back to their homes immediately.

Through another resolution, it was demanded that incumbent governor KPK was a political governor thus, he should be replaced with a non-political one, besides all the political agents must be changed before forth coming elections.

Moreover, those arrested during FATA operation should be released, while Action and Aid of Civil Power of Regulation FATA be abolished and solid steps be taken for peace in tribal areas, an another resolution said.
