ISLAMABAD- It is likely that electricity prices would be increased as theft expenditures would also be transferred to customers, according to sources. 

According to the sources, Central Power Purchasing Agency has written a letter to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) that cost of power generation in January was almost 73 billion rupees while around 35 paisa per unit electricity have been theft and utilized in losses.

Around 59 billion worth of electricity have been generated from oil in January which increased per unit production cost of electricity price from 9.58 rupees to 11.72 rupees.

NEPRA will hear the case regarding to increase the electricity prices after calculating the fuel adjustment charges.
