Gang smashed


LAHORE: CIA police on Friday claimed to have arrested eight hardened criminals allegedly involved in murder, robberies and vehicle snatching and recovered looted valuables of worth Rs90 millions including illegal weapons from their possession.
CIA SP Umar Virk said while addressing a press conference that accused were members of an inter-district dacoit gang known as Pathan gang. SP said that gang members were involved in looting Rs10.06 millions from a patrol pump in Mughalpora area, killing Nazir Ahmad. They were also involved in spraying bullets on house of a LUMS professor, Umaira Baig after getting heavy amount from her opponent. Virk said that accused were also involved in crime incidents in Gujranwala and Gujrat.
Those arrested included ring leader of gang, Sarshar Khan and members Muhammad Umar, Muhammad Ahmad, Zahid Butt, Muhammad Imran, Hussain Butt, Imran and Nadeem Masih. Four other accused could not be arrested, Shujaat alias Guddoo, Khalid alias Khaldi, Moazam and Rizwan. SP CIA said that Shujaat, Zahid Butt and Muhammad Imran were hit-men and by profession.–Staff Reporter
CCPO Lahore had assigned duty to SP CIA to arrest the accused keeping in view the increasing number of crime incidents in the city and province, said spokesman of police. He said that SP CIA formed a team which arrested the accused after hectic efforts.
