The Ant-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has announced re-investigation of 15 cases of corruption and 25 other high-profile inquires in which 50 officials of different government departments are involved.

The officials are forming the Highways, Local Government, Revenue, Buildings Department and Towns. Rana Abdul Shakur, director of ACE Gujranwala Division, said that these corruption cases and high profile inquiries had been lying pending for several years. In the cases, more than 50 officials of government departments were involved in the corruption, fraud and embezzlements of billions of rupees, they said.

The E&T Director also formulated a special committee for the purpose. He said that now all the cases would be sent to local Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) for trial.

On the other side, the Excise and Taxation Department has tightened its noose around tax defaulters as 70 E&T teams have sealed 200 commercial and residential properties in Gujranwala Division over the non-payment of taxes.

E&T Gujranwala Division Director Shakeelur Rehman said that the owners of the sealed buildings were defaulters of lakhs of rupees in shape of the different taxes. He added that the special checking teams also created pickets at all the entry and exit points of Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts. They also checked 400 vehicles out of which 120 vehicles of different kinds were impounded due to non-payment of token taxes.
