LAHORE: PTI leader and former minister Malik Abdul Qayyum, in a message on International Women’s Day, called for an urgent action to accelerate gender parity.

He said to ensure end to gender discrimination, decisive, visible and measurable steps were needed. “With individuals pledging to move from talk to purposeful action and with men and women joining forces, we can collectively help women advance equal to their numbers and realise the limitless potential they offer economies the world over,” the former health minister asserted.

Malik Qayum said women had made extraordinary contribution to their societies throughout the history. “Some are well known and some are less known, but all have been trailblazers. Despite social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, progress towards gender equality has slowed in many places. Let’s pledge today for gender parity,” he concluded.–PR
