Graveyards too on grabbers’ target

LODHRAN
Dozens of land grabbers’ groups are not only grabbing shops, houses and plots but also lands of graveyards without resistance from the law-enforcement agencies.
The outlaws have started grabbing land of Khan Gaahiwala graveyard where they are constructing houses and cattle sheds.
The graveyard is quite close to the Lodhran City’s Building Department, Civil Club, DCO Office, Rest House, Library, Ladies’ Park and Judicial Colony. It is connected with Behari Colony, Grain Market and other colonies.
The graveyard has shrank so much because here more than 30 houses have been constructed and around 11 canal land is under the control of land mafia while similar situation is present in other graveyards where land mafia has usurped the land. These graveyards are without boundary walls despite allocation of budget worth millions for the purpose.
Moreover, due to lack of boundary walls, animals damage the graves. People of the area including Noor, Abkar Ali, Iqbal and others announced to constitute a committee to save the graveyards.
